چکیده

Methods Electronic medical records of patients requiring CRRT during their stay in our 35-bed medical-surgical ICU (January 2012-December 2013) were reviewed. Patients were excluded if they were dialysis-dependent prior to admission, started on CRRT for toxin removal only, transferred to another hospital while on CRRT or died within 24 hours of admission. Binary logistic regression was performed to identify independent variables significantly associated with mortality and renal recovery after adjusting for age, gender, APACHE II score and chronological time to starting CRRT. Creatinine, net fluid balance and ultrafiltration were adjusted for weight; serum urea was adjusted for gastro-intestinal bleeding and steroid use.

Continuous renal replacement therapy improves renal recovery from acute renal failure.

BACKGROUND Acute renal failure (ARF) occurs in up to 10% of critically ill patients, with significant associated morbidity and mortality. The optimal mode of renal replacement therapy (RRT) remains controversial. This retrospective study compared continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) for RRT in terms of intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital mortality, ...

Long-term outcome in ICU patients with acute kidney injury treated with renal replacement therapy: a prospective cohort study

BACKGROUND In intensive care unit (ICU) patients, acute kidney injury treated with renal replacement therapy (AKI-RRT) is associated with adverse outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate variables associated with long-term survival and kidney outcome and to assess the composite endpoint major adverse kidney events (MAKE; defined as death, incomplete kidney recovery, or development of end...

Timing of continuous renal replacement therapy and mortality in critically ill children*.

OBJECTIVES Acute kidney injury and fluid overload frequently necessitate initiation of continuous renal replacement therapy in critically ill patients admitted to the ICU. In this study, our primary objective was to determine the effect of timing of initiation of continuous renal replacement therapy on ICU mortality in children requiring renal support for management of acute kidney injury and/o...

The relationship between preoperative creatinine clearance and outcomes for patients undergoing liver transplantation: a retrospective observational study

BACKGROUND Renal failure with following continuous renal replacement therapy is a major clinical problem in liver transplant recipients, with reported incidences of 3% to 20%. Little is known about the significance of postoperative acute renal failure or acute-on-chronic renal failure to postoperative outcome in liver transplant recipients. METHODS In this post hoc analysis we compared the mo...
